Take food orders over Instagram DMs with an agent for a restaurant chain
A builder on Reddit connected a seven location sushi chain's Instagram messages to Claude Sonnet through Meta's API. The agent works from a knowledge base of menus, ingredients, allergens, delivery areas, opening hours, prep times and promos. It chats with customers, takes the address and order, suggests extras, sends a bank payment link, then sends finished orders on to the kitchen while recording each one in the CRM and on a dashboard for the owner. Staff still handle calls, voice notes, photos and anyone asking for a person. The builder says text orders are right about 98% of the time. Caching covers about 97% of the long prompt, which cuts that input cost by around 90%. Allergen errors and stale menus are the main risk.
